ChrysoJam

A short survivors game made in 4 days for the 2024 spring pygame community gamejam.

Controls

• WASD to move around.
• LMB to gently hit ennemies with your pan.
• Space to dodge

Game loop

Enemies will come in waves. The more time passes, the more there will be. You will need to get stronger to survive the horde. Each enemy killed will drop materials. Burn these materials in the campfire while remaining nearby. 

This will raise the temperature and appease the gods. When the XP bar is full (the one on the right), you can select a blessing to make you stronger.

Tips

• Whenever you acquire a level, you are healed for 1 HP. If you have a lot of materials to convert, face taking the enemies is a viable strategy.
• Dodge is useless. Because dodge is useless, the Iron blessing is useless.
• The Gold blessing have a 25% chance to trigger every previously owned blessing. This can lead to triggering every gold blessing, which can in turn trigger every gold blessing, which can in turn trigger every gold blessing, which can in turn trigger every gold blessing, you get the idea. This will cause a RECURSION error, which is FUN!
• The Silver blessing is very strong to handle big waves. The pan can normally only hit 2 enemies per swing. Each instance of this blessing increase this limit by 1.
• Too much range kill the range. Because bonuses are multiplicative, taking the  Quicksilver blessing more than 3-4 times make hitting nearby enemies nearly impossible.
• Abuse the Tin blessing
• Abuse the Lead blessing

Careful
The bonuses are multiplicative. This can lead to absurd stats quickly. If the game crash, take it as an intended secret ending.

I did not succeed making this game playable on browsers. If you are a true pygbag master, you can dm on discord. I made every pygame loop async ready.
